Chess Tournament

On Monday 10th March three team representing Scoil Mhicíl Naofa took part in a chess tournament in Gael Scoil Áth Í, organised by the the School Completion Program.

Teams from Scoil Phádraig Naofa, Athy Community College, Gael Scoil Áth Í and Scoil Mhicíl Naofa battled it out in a team event and an overall individual event.

Each player played 6 games against opponents from the various schools involved.

As the results began to roll in excitement increased as we waited to find our rank and find out who we would face in the next round.

Each match was important as points were awarded for wins and draws.

Eventually our 5th class team of Lee Kennelly, Victor Malisenco, Max Tiosa, Jack Kennedy and Livia Doiban finished in second place in the team event, which was an amazing achievement.

Lee Kennelly also finished second overall in the individual event making it a momentous day for him!

Huge congratulations to all the boys and girls who participated.
