Science Week 2024

Science week is in full swing this week in Scoil Mhichíl Naofa.

There are experiments and investigations a plenty happening throughout the whole school.

Ms. Perse's class were investigating with parachutes and exploding volcanoes.

Mr. Gleeson's class made paper towers.

Ms. Cummins' class used items and paper to create bridges and tested their effectiveness using coins. They also took part in a live webinar with a real scientist who used seismometers in Dublin and Wicklow to measure the movements of the ground during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour this summer.

Ms. Power's class experimented with dancing raisins and fingerprints.

Ms. Whelan's class buried cotton pants to check how healthy our soil is. They also tested the density of liquids.

Ms Downey, Ms. Perse and Ms. Bond's SEN classes designed, made and flew Paper Helicopters.

Ms. Bowden's class designed and constructed mazes and conducted the skittles/diffusion experiment.

Ms. Cummins’ 3rd class attended a webinar with x2 gold medalist Olympian Kellie Harrington and Bronze medalists Daire Lynch and Philip Doyle.
