The final of our school's Spelling Bee took place today.

Children from fifth and sixth classes who had progressed from the preliminary rounds within their classrooms took part.

The children taking part in the final were:

5th class:

Danielle Rigney Cox,

Kalina Morgan,

Romaysa,

Anna,

Augustus,

Aaron Dunne,

Glory, and

Seán Wynne

6th Class:

Daniel Folawewo

Mia Flemming

Hannah McGovern,

Sochi Obiojogwu,

Megan Byrne,

Ryan Doyle,

Enoch Adekunle,

Anastasia Jignea

Following a number of very tense rounds we finally narrowed it down to a winner and a runner up.

The final round consisted of words such as ascetic, carapace and centrifuge.

In the final round were Mia Flemming, Anna and Enoch Adekunle.

In the end Enoch Adekunle won by spelling the word centrifuge correctly.

Anna and Mia then went head to head for the runners up place with Anna coming out on top as runner up.

Well done to all involved. We wish Enoch all the best now in the Kildare County final which will take place in the new year!
