Congratulations to the Scoil Mhichíl Naofa debating team on their recent defeat over Blessington No. 1 school which has earned them a place in the quarter finals in the Shield Phase of the Kildare Primary Debating Festival.
The team opposed the motion, 'Primary school students should be banned from owning a mobile phone.' They worked extremely hard in preparing for the debate, developing their research, language and communication skills.
The speakers on the day were; Jamie, Alan and Vivienne and they displayed great confidence, dedication and teamwork both during the preparation stage and on the day of the debate. The proposing team hosted the debate and we really appreciated their warm welcome to our debate team and supporters.
Our next debate will take place later this month against Scoil Bhríde, Straffan, where we will oppose the motion, 'World hunger will be eliminated by 2030.' We wish the team all the best for the next round!
