Scoil Mhichíl Naofa are delighted to have been awarded the Arts in Education BLAST residency. The aim of this scheme is to give students in schools all over the country the opportunity to work with a professional artist on unique projects to be planned and developed between the artist, the teacher and the school under the co-ordination of the Education Support Centres Ireland ESCI network of 21 full-time education centres.
Sixth class took part in six weeks of music instruction with a flamenco artist named John Walsh.
The children learned rhythm, counting, new songs and much more. The sessions ended in mini performance that the children were very proud of. They enjoyed it a lot and everyone was given the opportunity to try out some percussion instruments too.
